Add Dimensions and Attributes to Cube Sheets
- If you want to tag any dimension values, accounts, or levels with attributes, create the attributes and attribute values. See Create Attributes and Create Attribute Values.
- Security:Model includes: sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulaspermission.
Adding custom dimensions and attributes to cube sheets is optional. If you don't have a reason to add either, consider building a standard sheet instead.
Add custom dimensions to cube sheets so you can plan and report on data by the custom dimension. Attributes help your team filter the sheet to get to the cells that matter to them. Attributes can filter accounts, levels, and custom dimensions. You can also report on data tagged with attributes.
You can add up to 10 custom dimensions, and you can add an unlimited number of attributes. For regular cube sheets, all custom dimensions and attributes in the model are available.
For merged cube sheets, only custom dimensions that are on the source sheets are available. Custom dimensions common to all source sheets, automatically display in the canvas. You can remove them. Only attributes associated with the available dimensions are available to add.
- From the sheet summary, clickDimensions, Attributes, and Levels.
- From theElementstab, expand either the dimensions or attributes.
- From the list, drag and drop dimensions or attributes into the canvas. If you drag an attribute into the canvas, the associated dimension (account or custom dimension) automatically displays in the canvas. We display the dimensions on the sheets in the same order as in the canvas.
All data that you enter or import into the cube sheet are associated with uncategorized custom dimension values and attributes. To remove custom dimensions, you must first erase all the data in the cube sheet.
- Make custom dimensions and attributes available on the sheet. See Change Availabilities in Cube Sheets.
- Continue building or changing the sheet.
