Set Up Nature of Action Conditional Data Displays for SF 50

Set Up Nature of Action Conditional Data Displays for SF 50

Configure the
Personnel Action Request
business process as a subprocess of these business processes:
  • Request Compensation Change
    .
  • Request One Time Payment
    .
See Steps: Configure the Personnel Action Request Business Process.
You can tie active, configurable allowance plans and one-time payment plans in Workday to Nature of Action (NOA) codes. When a worker has a compensation event that triggers a Personnel Action Request (PAR), and the allowance plan or one-time payment plan relevant to that compensation event is mapped to one of these NOAs, Workday populates blocks 12 and/or 20 in SF 50 with compensation information according to condition rules you set up:
  • Availability Pay.
  • Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO).
  • Cash Award - Allowance Plan.
  • Cash Award - One-Time Payments.
  • Presidential Rank Award.
  • Separation Incentive.
You can map more than 1 allowance plan to the
Cash Award - Allowance Plan
NOA, and more than 1 one-time payment plan to the
Cash Award - One-Time Payments
NOA. When you run a
Request Compensation Change
or
Request One Time Payment
process and add multiple plans tied to the appropriate NOA to the worker's change in compensation, Workday totals the sum of those plans and displays that sum on the PAR.
AUO
and
Availability Pay
are the only NOAs you can configure for block 12 of SF 50. You can only map 1 allowance plan to these codes.
To return the
AUO
value as a percentage on the PAR, you must map a percent based allowance plan to the
AUO
NOA. All other codes return a dollar amount, regardless of whether the plan you map to the code is percent, amount, or unit based.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Federal Field Values
    task.
Select 1 or more active, configurable allowance plans or one-time payment plans for each NOA under the
    Compensation
    section.
  2. Navigate to the
    Pay Changes and Miscellaneous Changes
tab. Configure the relevant NOA codes. In the
Configure Personnel Action Request Blocks to Show Empty
column, add the blocks you want to display as empty when you run a PAR event for that particular code.
  3. Access the
    Maintain Staffing Field Defaults
    task.
    Navigate to the
    Personnel Action Request
tab. Configure condition rules that define what Workday displays in blocks 12 and 20 of SF 50. See Example Steps: Create a SF 50 Conditional Data Display for the AUO Nature of Action.
When
Request Compensation Change
or
Request One Time Payment
triggers a
Personnel Action Request
event, the security group configured to receive the PAR initiation task receives a
My Tasks
item to review the worker's compensation update. The
My Tasks
item populates blocks 12 and/or 20 after the user selects the appropriate NOA code, then refreshes the event view. Blocks you configured to display as empty for the PAR event pertaining to the NOA code the user selects will display as empty.
Because the values of blocks 12 and/or 20 in the
Details
section of the
My Tasks
item don't update dynamically, the user must:
  1. Enter the appropriate NOA code in the
5-A and 5-B: Nature of Action
    field.
  2. Select
    Save for Later
    .
  3. View the
    My Tasks
    item again.
