Record Asset Depreciation and Amortization Expenses

Record Asset Depreciation and Amortization Expenses

Security:
Process: Business Asset Accounting
domain in the Business Asset Accounting functional area.
You can schedule Workday to record depreciation and amortization expenses for company assets. When you don't record depreciation every period, Workday selects all unprocessed depreciation lines up to and including the period of the specified date.
Workday posts depreciation expenses to:
  • All company asset books. When the asset is in multiple books, set up asset book restrictions to specify which ones to post to.
  • Ledgers as 1 journal per company, summarized by spend category, location, and worktags. The journal accounting date is the posting date you specify in your account posting rules for depreciation and accumulated depreciation.
  1. Access the
    Record Depreciation Amortization Expense
    task.
    When you select the
    Depreciation
    and
    Amortization
check boxes, Workday records both on the same schedule.
  2. (Optional) When you can't find an asset, make sure:
    • You assign accounting information to the asset.
    • The asset has depreciation expenses to post based on the posting date.
    • You associate a depreciation profile with the asset's spend category.
    • You don't have to take another action on the asset before depreciation starts, such as issuance.
    • The
      Process History
      tab on the
      View Business Asset
report doesn't include other events in progress.
