Steps: Enable Delegations

You can configure delegations in your tenant so that workers can select a delegate to complete My Tasks items. Reassignment permanently moves responsibility for a task from 1 person to another. Delegation doesn't remove responsibility ownership for the task from the original task owner.

Access the

Edit Tenant Setup - Business Processes

task.

Select at least 1 option in the

Users Can Delegate Tasks To

prompt.

You can also select these check boxes:

Apply Routing Restrictions During Delegation

Tenant delegation settings apply only to users requesting delegation on behalf of themselves. When you enable role-based or user-based security groups to request delegation on behalf of others, these settings don’t apply.

domain in the System functional area.

Edit Business Process Security Policies.

Configure the security policy for the Request Delegation Change
business process.

From the related actions menu of a business process you want to enable for delegation, select

Business Process Policy

Edit

In the

Policy Restrictions

section, select the

Allow Business Process Delegation

check box.

In the

Who Can Start the Business Process

section, specify which security groups can delegate the initiating actions. You can only do this when the business process definition enables you to delegate initiating actions.

Configure these business process definitions:

Request Delegation Change (Default Definition)
: Include a Review
or Approval
step on the business process definition when you want someone to review delegations before they take effect. Anytime someone configures a delegation for a period of time, Workday initiates the Request Delegation Change
business process.

Delegate Task (Default Definition)
: Include an Approval
step on the business process definition when you want someone to review single task delegations before they take effect. Anytime someone delegates a single task from their My Tasks, Workday initiates the Delegate Task
business process.

Create the default definitions if they don't exist in your tenant.

Set Up Delegations.

Enable workers to select a delegate to complete My Tasks items and initiate business process actions.
