Generate Periods for Period Schedules
Security:
- Set Up: Payroll (Pay Group Specific) in the Core Payroll functional area.
- Set Up: Payroll Interfacein the Payroll Interface functional area.
- Set Up: Period Schedulein the Project Tracking functional area.
- Set Up: Time Off (Calculations - Absence Specific)in the Time Off and Leave functional area.
- Set Up: Time Trackingin the Time Tracking and Time Tracking Hub functional areas.
Create a period schedule with at least 1 period configured within it. For more information, see Set Up Payroll and Time Tracking Period Schedules.
After you create period schedules, you can automatically extend existing period schedules for up to 2 years instead of manually adding new periods. This increases efficiency and reduces the likelihood of errors.
- Access theView Period ScheduleorEdit Period Scheduletask.
- Select thePeriod Scheduleoption in theActionsmenu.
- Select theGenerate Periodsoption.
- Enter the number of periods that you want to add to the period schedule. You can add a maximum of 2 years of periods.
- (Optional) Enter a value in thePayment Date Offset Days Defaultfield to set the Payroll Payment Date. Otherwise, the value will correspond to the existing period schedule.TheAdjusted Payment Datecolumn displays a selected checkbox when you've configured Workday to automatically adjust payment dates that fall on weekends or holidays. Workday adds the periods you configured to the existing period schedule.
The
Generate Period Schedule Periods
task automatically defines the Period Start Date, Period End Date, and Payroll Payment Date for generated periods. When you enable continuous payroll calculation, the task also defines dates and times for the initial calculation and the automatic stop.Assign pay period schedules to pay groups.
