Example: Set Up Column Headings
You want to create an income statement with variables on the column headings so that you can
quickly scan and interpret the data on the report.
- Create actuals and plan subreports.
- Create an income statement composite report.
- Security: These domains in the System functional area:
- Custom Report Creation
- Manage: All Custom Reports
- Access theEdit Custom Reporttask.
- SelectIncome Statementfrom theReport Nameprompt.
- ClickOK.
- Access the settings menu on your report.
- On theColumn Headingstab, select theGenerate Column Headingscheck box.
- On theColumn Heading Cellsgrid, click thePopup Windowicon forActualsin theCell Namecolumn.
- From the related actions menu of theView Column Header Cellreport, select .
- EnterActuals YTD - [V1]in theText Expressionfield.
- SelectYearfrom the[V1] Variable 1prompt.
- ClickOK.
- ClickDone.
- Return to your composite report.
- On theColumn Heading Cellsgrid, click thePopup Windowicon forPlanin theCell Namecolumn to access theView Column Header Cellreport.
- From the related actions menu of theView Column Header Cellreport, select .
- EnterPlan YTD - [V1]in theText Expressionfield.
- SelectYearon the[V1] Variable 1prompt.
- ClickOK.
- ClickDone.
- Return to your composite report.
- On theColumn Headingstab, clickOK.

Workday updates the column headings with the year of the actuals and plan data.
