Steps: Set Up Consent for Electronic 1098-T Forms

You can enable students to consent to receive only electronic copies of their 1098-T Federal Tax forms. Students who opt out of printing 1098-T forms can still access electronic copies and print paper copies on demand. Workday files 1098-T forms for students electronically with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whether they select paper copies or not.
Students must renew their consent every year.
  1. Edit Business Processes.
    Add the
    Consent to Receive Form 1098-T Electronically
     action step to these business processes:
    • Student Onboarding Event
    • Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
  2. Select
    Business Process
    Maintain Help Text
     from the related actions menu of these business processes:
    • Student Onboarding Event
    • Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
    To help students understand what their consent means, configure help text for the
    Consent to Receive Form 1098-T Electronically
     action step.
    Security:
    Business Process Administration
     domain in the System functional area.
When you run the
Student Onboarding Event
 or
Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
 business processes, Workday sends a task to the student's
My Tasks
 to request consent for the calendar year.
When you mass print 1098-T forms, Workday doesn't include students who consented to removal from mass printing.
