Create Transfer Credit Condition Rules

Create Transfer Credit Condition Rules

Security:
Set Up: Transfer Credit Rules
domain in the Academic Advising functional area.
You can define criteria that students must meet to receive transfer credit based on coursework from their external transcripts. Example:
Course start date must be after 09/01/2019
or
Grade received must be B or better
.
  1. Access the
    Create Transfer Credit Condition Rule
    task.
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Institution
Select the institution for which the condition rule applies.
    Description
Enter a meaningful description for identifying the condition rule. This description displays in prompts when you select from available condition rules.
    Derived Logic
Displays a statement describing what you've defined through the rule conditions.
    Copy Condition from Rule
Select to copy the criteria from an existing condition rule. Workday populates the
    Rule Conditions
grid with the rows from the condition rule you select.
Source External Field or Condition Rule
Select the source data for which you're defining a condition. You can select from delivered Workday sources, or condition rules and custom worktags that you've already defined.
    Relational Operator
Select how you want to compare the source data to the next value in your condition. The options depend on the data type of the source.
    When you use
    Grade
    as the
Source External Field or Condition Rule
, Workday interprets the value alphabetically and not in the context of education grades. To create a condition rule where a grade should be greater than or equal to a certain letter, select a
    Relational Operator
    of
    less than or equal to
    .
Example: To assign students transfer credit only if they received a C or better for a course, create a condition rule with a:
    • Relational Operator
      of
      less than or equal to
      .
    • Comparison Value
      of
      C
      .
Because A and B precede (are less than) C in the alphabet, students with an A, B, or C grade pass the condition.
    Comparison Type
Specify whether to compare the source data to another field, or to a value that you enter in the
    Comparison Value
    column.
    Comparison Value
Select a comparison field or enter the value you want to compare to the source data.
You can access the:
  • Edit Transfer Condition Rule
task to edit a condition rule.
  • View Transfer Credit Condition Rule
report to view a condition rule.
Assign the condition rule to transfer credit rules for educational institutions. You can use the condition rule on:
  • New and existing educational institution transfer credit rules.
  • Educational institution transfer credit condition rule policies, to apply the condition to all transfer credit rules for an educational institution.
