Manage Instructor Load

  • Configure the
    Manage Instructor Load
     business process and security policy in the Student Records functional area.
  • Security:
    Manage: Instructor Course Section Load
     domain in the Student Records functional area.
  • Configure role-based security group access at the institution level to run the
    Manage Instructor Course Section Load
     task.
Instructor loads help you manage and assign the workload for a course section with multiple instructors. Instructor loads can help you better plan instructor assignments and course section allocation across your institution.
With instructor loads, you can:
  • Specify and view the workload for an instructor who is teaching multiple course sections.
  • Specify the workload of a course with multiple instructors when there's only one assigned instructor.
  • Assign multiple and different unit types.
On the
Load Value
 field of the
Manage Instructor Course Section Load
 task, Workday enables data entry checks. The data entry check uses machine learning algorithms to look at historical values entered by users across the tenant to notify you when an unusual amount is entered.
  1. Access the
    Manage Instructor Course Section Load
     task.
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Academic Unit for Academic Appointment Track
    Workday uses the academic unit for the routing of the business process. We don't store or tie the academic unit to the instructor load.
    Load Value
    Specify the instructor's load value for the course section. The load value doesn't need to add up to the total load value of the course section.
    Unit Type
    The unit type reflects the measure used for the instructor load, which can be the same or different than the unit type specified on the course section.
    Overload
    Select this check box to specify if the course section assignment will put the instructor above their normal work load. Instructor overload can help administrators identify overutilized instructors and which instructors are at their work load capacity.
  3. (Optional) Access the
    Edit Tenant Setup - Student
     task.
    Disable machine learning data entry checks.
    1. In the
      Data Entry Check Options
       section, clear the
      Switch on Data Entry Check everywhere
       check box. You can use
      Select areas to switch on Data Entry Check
       to enable or disable DEC on individual tasks.
