Set Overlapping Segments Threshold
Security: only members from the
Administrators
group can set threshold settings.The
Unique employees across two segments
setting controls the required number of unique respondents between 2 segments that have a large employee overlap. This setting reduces the possibility of using deduction to infer scores and comments from small groups. When the dashboard detects that a segment has a conflicting segment, it suggests an alternative segment for you to view. Click
See overlapping segment
to proceed to the suggested alternative segment. Note that a segment that is visible for 1 manager might not be visible for another manager, due to the differing segments that they have access to.While the
Number of responses
setting hides segments that are below the threshold, the Unique employees across two segments
can hide segments that are too large instead.- Go to .
- Set theUnique employees across two segmentssetting.
The setting works in 3 ways, but only the first check applies to global administrators.
- Filtering data by a subsegment. Example: The team contains 10 employees, of which 9 are female. If the female segment is visible due to meeting the visibility threshold, it's possible to infer the scores of the male segment of 1 person. SettingUnique employees across two segmentsto 2 prevents risk of deduction.
- Viewing a direct reports segment. Example: A manager has an All Reports segment of 12 employees, and a Direct Reports segment of 10 employees. If both segments are visible, the manager can infer the answers from the 2 indirect reports. SettingUnique employees across two segmentsto 3 prevents risk of deduction.
- Viewing a segment while having access to segments in other contexts. Example: The sales director has access to the All Reports segment of the senior manager, which contains 10 employees. The sales director also has access to the Sales department segment, which contains 12 employees. The 2 unique employees are the senior manager and the sales director themselves. If both segments are visible, the sales director can infer the answers of the senior sales manager. SettingUnique employees across two segmentsto 3 prevents risk of deduction.
