FAQ: Which Dashboard Contexts Can Managers Switch To?
The context switcher enables managers to switch their dashboard to a segment that they fully
manage. The ability to display a segment fully is different to seeing a section of
the segment in the heat map. The heat map displays segments that contain employees
of the manager's dashboard, but those segments can also contain employees from
entirely different areas, so they don't display fully.
A manager can only switch context to a segment if any of these conditions are
true:
- It's theDirect ReportsorAll Reportssegment (from anEmployeetype attribute) for that manager.
- They're the segment manager of that segment. This means you can see the name of the segment in theManagingtab of the manager's employee record.
- You’ve created an attribute hierarchy and the segment in the manager'sManagingtab is a parent segment of child segments. Example: You created a hierarchy between the attributesCountryandLocal Office. You assigned a manager access to theSpainsegment. As a result, the manager also manages the child segments ofSpain, such asBarcelonaandMadrid. The manager won't see these segments in their context switcher, but they can search for them and switch to the segments. This condition is contingent on all employees of the child segment also being part of the parent segment.
