Concept: Heat Maps
The heat map enables you to segment survey results, to identify improvement areas, patterns, and correlations throughout the organization.
User Interface
The top row of the heat map displays the overall score of your context, enabling you to see how your subsegments compare to the same driver scores in your overall area. Example: If you're in the Marketing context, the heat map will display the Marketing scores in the top row, and your subsegments below.
The heat map color gradient helps provide data visualization to your results. The color scale depends on your dashboard theme:
- Defaulttheme displays green, white, and red.
- Deuteranopiatheme displays blue, white, and orange.
The exact score determines the intensity of the color within each range. Example: 8.1 is pastel green, while 10 is opaque green. The below color ranges apply to both dashboard color themes.

Segment Selection
Scores in the heat map update in real time during surveys. The segments that display depend on each user's access, and whether the segments meet the visibility requirements within each user's accessible views.
A sub-segment is available in the heat map if it meets both conditions:
- The subsegment contains employees from the overall context that you're in. Example: You're in the Marketing context, and you have employees in France. The heat map will display the France subsegment.
- The subsegment has met the visibility requirements within the overall context that you're in. Example: If your organization uses a visibility threshold of 5, the France subsegment from the above example will only display if more than 5 people have responded to the survey during the visibility period.
The segments that display in the heat map remain fixed for the duration of the survey. As an exception, if an employee import makes changes to an automatically updating hierarchy, the segment heat map reflects the changes in the Child segments section automatically.
Customization
Viewing option | Description |
|---|---|
View
| Using the View drop-down menu, you can switch between these views:
When using the Difference to round viewing option, a Round end drop down menu enables you to select a survey round to compare against. You can only select the survey rounds that asked questions from the question set that you've selected in the Question Sets drop down menu. Example: If your organization only asked the Diversity & Inclusion question set in a specific survey round, that survey round will display as greyed out for all other question sets.On Heatmaps analysis for each question set, when you select Difference to round from the dropdown menu, you can view whether your selected question set was included as part of the survey round. |
Question sets
| Using the Question Sets drop-down menu, you can switch between these question sets (where available):
Each question set displays its latest scores if they're still within your organization's selected visibility window. This can mean that you're displaying scores from questions that didn't come up in the latest survey, but are still recent enough to qualify. |
Show participation
| The Participation column displays:
The human icon detail next to each segment name is the numeric counterpart to the aggregated participation (%) column, referring to overall survey completion. This value isn't the same as the engagement score participation on the main dashboard. |
Expand all
| Enables you to expand your question set and display:
The collapsed view displays overall driver scores. |
NPS or Average mode
| You can switch between NPS and average mode. The default selection is the one your company has selected in the overall dashboard settings. |
