Example: Backdating an Existing Team to a New Senior Leader

This example explains how backdating the manager relationship between 2 high-level leaders can automatically bring a whole team into the access of the most-senior leader. This action also moves the old scores and comments of the Senior Manager into the direct reports segment of the Director. To avoid such confidentiality concerns, you can instead set the Director as a segment manager of the Senior Manager's segment.
The marketing team has a new Director. The existing Senior Manager of marketing now reports into them. The new Director needs historical data on their new business unit, so that when they view their extended team it also contains old survey rounds.
The team of the Senior Manager already contains historical data. To bring this historical data into the view of the new Director, you must backdate the
Manager
 segment value of the Senior Manager.
  1. Go to
    Administration
    Employees
    .
  2. Search for and open the employee record of the Senior Manager.
  3. Ensure that the
    Manager
     attribute contains the name of the new Director.
  4. Click the small clock icon on the
    Manager
     attribute.
  5. Select
    Start
    .
  6. Click
    Backdate
    .
  7. Click
    Review changes
    , then
    Save changes
    .
The reporting line between the Senior Manager and the Director now has a retroactive effect. The Director can view their extended team as though it always reported into them.
