Import Dimension Mappings

Import Dimension Mappings

Create many dimension mappings, or make bulk updates to existing ones with the import function. Either export the current structure, which you can modify in Excel or download the Excel template.

Prerequisites

Security:
  • Model includes: sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
     permission.
  • Structure Import
     permission.

Add Dimension Mappings (Append)

To download the template:
  1. Select a dimension with
    Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
     enabled
  2. Click the
    Import Dimension Structure
    drop-down >
    Dimension Mapping Import
     >
    Download Template
    link.
  3. Save the template to your computer so you can make changes.
  4. Update the dimension mapping template.
  5. In Modeling, select a derived dimension.
  6. Click the
    Import Dimension Structure
    drop-down >
    Dimension Mapping Import
    . If you don't see this button, you don't have the
    Structure Import
     permission.
  7. Select
    Append
    to add new mapping rows. Don't include any existing mapping rows in the spreadsheet.
  8. Select a
    Version
    , then
    Choose File
    to select the updated template spreadsheet.

Bulk Edit Dimension Mappings (Update)

To import updates, first export the current structure. Then, import the changes.
  1. Select a dimension with
    Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
     enabled
  2. Click the
    Printable View
    drop-down >
    Export Dimension Mapping
    .
  3. Select a
    Version
    , then download and Save the file to your computer to make updates.
  4. Update the existing mappings. Do not add any mapping rows.
  5. In Modeling, select a dimension with
    Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
     enabled.
  6. Click the
    Import Dimension Structure
    drop-down >
    Dimension Mapping Import
    . If you don't see this button, you don't have the Model Management > Import Structure permission.
  7. Select
    Update
    , then a
    Version
    .
  8. Click
    Choose File
    to select the saved spreadsheet.

Bulk Edit and Add Dimension Mappings (Reload Mappings)

Deletes existing dimension mappings for the dimension and loads new dimension mappings.
  1. Either export the structure to make changes and additions, or download the template to make additions.
  2. In Modeling, select a dimension with
    Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
     enabled.
  3. Click the
    Import Dimension Structure
    drop-down >
    Dimension Mapping Import
    . If you don't see this button, you don't have the Model Management > Import Structure permission.
  4. Select
    Reload Entire Dimension
    , then a
    Version
    .
  5. Click
    Choose File
    to select the saved spreadsheet.
