Steps: Set Up and Calculate Cost of Attendance

Steps: Set Up and Calculate Cost of Attendance

Cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of a student’s educational expenses for 1 or more academic periods in the same financial aid award year. It represents the sum of the cost items assigned to a student.
Workday takes a student's COA into account when it estimates their financial aid award package for:
  • Need-based awards.
  • Merit-based awards that require COA.
Unlike student charges, which represent a student's actual institutional expenses, Workday doesn't post costs to student accounts.
Workday references a student's financial aid attendance plan when it calculates their COA. If a student doesn't have a financial aid attendance plan when you calculate COA, it creates one.
