Steps: Manage Continuing Student Onboarding

Steps: Manage Continuing Student Onboarding

When you onboard continuing students for the upcoming academic period, you can help them prepare for course registrations. Examples: You configure the steps in the
Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
business process to:
  • Send continuing students welcome messages and email notifications about upcoming onboarding deadlines.
  • Ensure that continuing students complete required onboarding tasks. Examples: Review academic honesty policies.
  • Apply holds to prevent continuing students from registering for courses before completing onboarding tasks.
  • Notify continuing students, advisors, and administrators about actions and holds.
  1. Edit Business Processes.
    1. (Optional) Add
      Approval
      steps to the
Mass Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
      business process.
    2. Add steps to include onboarding tasks to the
      Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
      business process.
    Example: You configure the
Mass Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
business process so that departments must receive approval from the registrar's office before they can onboard their continuing students. Once the registrar approves onboarding for continuing students in the College of Arts & Sciences, Workday can initiate the
    Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
. This enables those students to complete their onboarding tasks, such as reviewing their mailing address.
    Security: Configure the
Mass Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
    and
    Continuing Student Registration Onboarding Event
business processes in the Student Records functional area.
  2. Create emails and additional push notifications to remind students about the onboarding process.
  3. (Optional) Access the
    Maintain Dashboards
    task.
    Configure the
    Registration Requirements
worklet on the Academics dashboard to enable students to view their required actions and holds.
Continuing students won't be able to onboard when they have:
  • A locked academic record.
  • An inactive academic record during the target academic period. Examples: Students who matriculate in the spring, but won't attend the institution until the fall semester.
  • An in progress onboarding even for the upcoming academic period.
