Reference: Drop Students from Courses

You can drop students from courses and course section waitlists to:
  • Configure class rosters.
  • Remove incorrect registrations.
  • Remove students who don’t meet course registration requirements.
  • Resolve course scheduling issues for students.
You can use these tasks or reports secured to the Student Records functional area to:

You can:
  • Access the

    task.
  • Select
    Drop

    Current Classes
    report on the Academics profile group from a student profile.
Manage: Registration Overrides
Drop 1 student from multiple courses.
From a student profile, select
Drop Courses
from the
Current Classes
report on the Academics profile group.
Manage: Drop Registrations from Student Profile
Drop multiple students from 1 course section.
From the related actions menu of a course section definition, select
Course Section Definition
Drop Students
.
When you use this task, all selected students are dropped. This can affect students with complicated registrations tied to the course section that's being dropped. Examples: Students who:
  • Registered for the selected course section as part of a course section cluster with another course.
  • Needs to complete the selected course section as a prerequisite for another course.
  • Won't meet the enrollment unit limit policy set by their institution after dropping the selected course section.
Manage: Drop Registrations from Course Section
Drop students who no longer meet course prerequisites.
Access these tasks:
  • Run Post-Grading Jobs
    task to
    Check for Invalid Registrations
    . Workday compares student grades from the
    Academic Period
    you select against course registrations for academic periods after the one you select. When students have incomplete courses during the selected academic period that are prerequisites of upcoming course registrations, those course registrations are marked as invalid.
  • Mass Drop Invalid Student Registrations
    task to drop all invalid course registrations within the
    Academic Period
    you select. This task doesn't include students in reserved capacity seats, even when they're no longer eligible for those seats. You need to manually remove those invalid registrations.
Example: Students must complete or be in the process of completing MATH 199 before they can register for MATH 250. Students already registered for MATH 199 during the fall semester can also register for MATH 250 for the upcoming spring semester. When the fall semester ends and final grades have been assigned, you access the:
  • Run Post-Grading Jobs
    task and select the fall semester.
  • Mass Drop Invalid Student Registrations
    task and select the spring semester.
Workday drops all students who didn't complete MATH 199 during the fall semester from MATH 250 for the spring semester.
Configure the
Pre-Requisite Failure Mass Drop Registrations Event
business process and security policy.
Drop students who haven't paid past balances.

business process and security policy.
Remove all students from a course section waitlist.

you select should have the Mass Drop From Waitlist date control configured.
