Concept: Workday Agent Gateway for Partner Agents
This document provides the required guidance to ensure a seamless implementation of the Agent Gateway, allowing your agents to leverage the Agent Gateway's benefits while complying with Workday agent platform standards.
Workday's Agent Gateway makes it easier for you to connect your AI agents with Workday's Agent System of Record (ASOR). It enables your agents to collaborate and communicate information with the Workday ecosystem, allowing you to provide real-time support and automation within your existing workflow.
The Agent Gateway functions as a secure and intelligent reverse proxy by providing a single, unified regional endpoint to centralize and streamline how third-party agents interface with Workday. The Agent Gateway provides access to the Workday APIs, including Graph, for all agentic partners, along with access to the Agent Definition Registry API.
The Agent Gateway includes:
- Workday Graph API
- Workday Query Language (WQL)
- Workday RaaS
The Agent Gateway is your starting point for creating powerful, integrated agentic experiences with Workday, backed up by the security, scalability, and operational tooling you require. The Agent Gateway provides:
- Comprehensive observability: Monitors agent performance and health by detailed logging and metrics.
- Future-proofing: Prepares your agent to work efficiently with future Workday platform updates and security protocols.
- Predictable performance and stability: Ensures your agent interacts with Workday in a stable, high-performance environment through built-in rate limiting and performance guardrails.
- Robust security and trust: Ensures all API calls are authenticated and authorized through Workday's robust security layer, providing a secure and compliant interaction model.
- Streamlined access to Workday APIs: Provides a consistent and managed entry point for all your agent's Workday API interactions.
- Transparent usage tracking: Ensures clear tracking of your agent's API consumption, providing the necessary data for accurate billing and cost management.
All third-party agents interacting with Workday APIs are required to route their API traffic through the Agent Gateway using Agent System User (ASU) security as required. For more information on Agent Security, see Concept: Agent Security.
To route your API traffic through the Agent Gateway, you must register your external agents in Workday through Agent System of Record (ASOR) and configure how they authenticate.
