Create Filter to Add Configurations to a Solution

  • Security:
    Solution
    domain in System functional area. Include security groups in both
    Report/Task Permissions
    and
    Integration Permissions
    for the
    Solution
    domain security policy.
  • You must have already created the Workday Configurations that you want to package together.
  • You can take screen captures of sample report output or other Workday settings. You can also create supporting documents, to include with the Solution.
Create or edit a Bulk Solution. Then define filtering rules by which Workday adds one or more Configurations automatically to the Solution at migration time.
You can add only supported Top-Level and Dependent Configurations.
  1. Do one of these actions:
    • Create a new Bulk Solution: access the
      Create Bulk Solution
      task.
    • Edit an existing Solution: access the
      View Solution
      report, select the Solution from the prompt, then select
      Solution
      Edit
      as a related action on the Solution.
  2. (Optional) Apply one or more
    Tags
    to identify the included Configurations by Workday feature area or by industry.
    Customers can filter results in the
    Browse Solutions
    report using these tags.
  3. (Optional) To add a graphic file, select one or more
    Screenshot(s)
    from the prompt. If there are no graphic files associated with the Solution, you can add one or more:
    1. From within the
      Screenshot(s)
      prompt, select
      Create Screenshot
      .
    2. (Optional) Add a description or other notes to the
      Comment
      field.
    3. Select
      Attach
      and select a graphic file.
    4. Enter the
      File Name
      .
    5. Repeat this procedure to add any additional graphic files to the Solution.
  4. (Optional) To add a supporting document, select one or more
    Documents
    from the prompt. If there are no documents associated with the Solution, you can add one or more:
    1. From within the
      Documents
      prompt, select
      Create Supporting Document
      .
    2. (Optional) Add a description or other notes to the
      Comment
      field.
    3. Select
      Browse
      and select a document file.
    4. Enter the
      File Name
      .
    5. Repeat this procedure to add any additional documents to the Solution.
  5. Define rules for including Configurations in the Solution:
    Option Description
    Configuration Type
    You can include Configurations of exactly 1 type in each Solution.
    Order
    Workday evaluates conditions in the order that you specify.
    Source External Field
    The source data for which you’re defining a rule condition.
    Relational Operator
    Select how you want to compare the source data to the next value in your condition. The options depend on the data type of the source.
    Comparison Type
    Specify whether Workday should compare the source to another field or to a value that you enter in the
    Comparison Value
    column.
    Comparison Value
    Either select a comparison field or enter the value that Workday compares to the source.
    ( )
    Use parentheses to group one or more conditions together.
    Example: to say

    • Use the opening parenthesis at the beginning of statement

  6. Select one of these options:
    Option Description
    Save Solution
    Saves the Solution in your tenant. You can access the Solution later using the
    View Solution
    report.
    Save and Migrate
    Saves the Solution in your tenant and starts the
    Migrate Solution
    task.
Migrate the Solution to another tenant to which you have access.
