- Set Up Academic Progress Display
The
Academic Progress
report displays these sections, some of them depending on whether you've configured them for display:

Configure Grade Point Averages Policy
task.Unused Registrations
The
Unused Registrations
field always displays by default and displays a number if the student has registrations that aren't being used for requirements.Registrations include courses and activities. The applicable reasons for
Unused Registrations
are:
Reason | Description |
|---|---|
Didn't Match
| Registrations that didn't match the criteria of any of the academic requirements currently assigned to the student. Academic Progress was unable to assign or didn't even consider these registrations during evaluation. |
Didn't Satisfy
| Workday didn't use the registrations to satisfy the academic requirements. Example: A registration didn't meet the configured grade requirement or Academic Progress Limits, or the course is in a Restricted Requirement Group. |
In Excess
| Workday doesn't use these registrations to satisfy an academic requirement because another registration already satisfies the requirement.
Example: Either ENGL 101 or WRIT 131 satisfies a requirement. The student has passed ENGL 101, and enrolls in WRIT 131. WRIT 131 is in excess of the requirement. |
Unassigned Units
| The registrations are assigned to academic requirements using the Assign Course to Requirement override type, but not all the units for the registration satisfied the requirement. Workday doesn't use the remaining units for registrations toward another requirement.
Example: You assign a course that's 5 units to requirement A for 3 units. If the course for 5 units doesn't apply to any other requirement, Workday puts the course in Unassigned Units because 2 of its units won't be used. If Workday can apply the course that's 5 units to another requirement without specifying units or apply all 5 units for a requirement, then the course won't be in Unassigned Units . If Workday assigns the course that's 5 units to a requirement that's 3 units and to another requirement that's 2 units, it's still considered as Unassigned Units because a requirement isn't using all 5 units. |
Overall Academic Progress
The
Overall Academic Progress
grid displays the Total Academic Requirement (TAR). TAR is for the student's academic record based on their primary program of study. You configure the total units students must earn across all their programs of study on an academic record. You can configure the
Total Academic Requirements

To evaluate the in-progress registrations instead of the graded registrations, select Prefer in progress over repeated courses on the Maintain Academic Progress Processing Policy task. Workday only evaluates courses repeated for grade improvement, and not courses that are repeatable for additional credit. The courses are subject to the Course Repeat Policy as well.Drill down to view the details for each registration in the eligibility rule that you configured for the TAR. |
Units Satisfying
| Displays the number of units associated with the course registrations that the student has completed that satisfy TAR. |
Remaining
| Displays the number of units remaining to satisfy TAR. Workday displays this value based only on completed registrations.
Example: A student requires 120 units, of which 36 units are satisfying. The student has 28 units in progress. Workday displays 84 Remaining units (120 total units - 36 units satisfying). |
